ASPC-Eyman Prisoner Suicide

I don't understand how we can spend so much money on prisons and give the state total control over people's lives and bodies, and yet still they aren't able to keep them safe from harm...


This is the second prisoner suicide from ASPC-Eyman (in Florence) in the past 3 weeks.

Inmate commits suicide in Florence prison


FLORENCE - The Arizona Department of Corrections says a 28-year-old man apparently committed suicide in a Florence prison. It was the second suicide in less than a month.

Department officials say Jesus Cota was pronounced dead at 3:50 p.m. Sunday.

His death is under investigation.

Cota had been sentenced in Maricopa County to 10 years in prison for arson of an occupied structure.

He had been in custody of the Department of Corrections since June 14, 2005, and was held at the Special Management Unit at the Arizona State Prison Complex-Eyman at Florence... (for the rest)
